The last bus
The iconic mont saint Michel, Normandy, France, at dusk. When the crowds of the day disperse and the tourists are all gone, the last bus passes along the causeway. Full tide surrounding the mount, which only happens two or three times a year, just adds to the magic. Soon the tide will recede and another day will bring yet more tourists in by bus, and some walking the length of the causeway . The tales this iconic landmark could tell, with its influx of visitors and the changing tides and seasons in the bay, remain just there, hidden in it's long history.
Once an island, only accessible via a wooden causeway bridge, and regularly inaccessible. But now with a new bridge, and the changes in the sea bed it is only a true island on those couple of times a year that bring an unusually high tide. Regardless of tides, it always looks so majestic, but it has that extra sparkle when it is shut off by the sea.
